A new start for popular participation
In order to deal with all these issues, the effective participation of movements in political incidence was crucial after a long period of four years without the federal government opening its doors to social movements. This constant dialogue proves the importance of monitoring organized civil society in the fight to defend democracy.
Our mission at Peregum Black Reference Institute, among other actions, is to bring the urgent demands and needs of the black and low-income population to the center of society’s debate. We can mention, in 2023, the importance of the participation of black individuals in higher courts, an issue that gained considerable attention in society.
It is time to advance towards indicators that bring more representatives defending the issues of 56% of the Brazilian population. When authorities speak across the country about the need to work and govern for the Brazilian population, which population are they talking about?
